Bamberg

This morning we woke up in Bamberg... and no rain!  We toured Bamberg this morning and the plan was to start sailing at lunch towards the next town.  I had quite the attitude yesterday because I was bummed we would only be in Bamburg for 3 hours and then back on the ship for the rest of the day!  But during lunch, the director told that due to all the snow last week and rain this week the Main Danube was to high for us to sail because our boat would not make it under the bridges due to the high water levels.  So it appeared we were stuck in Bamberg and after lunch we headed out again!  As I kept saying... "Bamberg or bust!"

This morning, our tour started in the cirty center.  Bamberg was the cutest buildings and the best decorations we have seen in Germany yet this year!

Only saw this area from afar but it was so cute.  It is called "Little Venice".  It is right on the river and they have many gardens in front of the homes.

Then we went to see a cathedral!  This was my first cathedral I have had to step foot inside so I'm not complaining.  It was also decorated cutely inside and we were not in there too long.  

 As we were leaving, many school children were lined outside to come in the cathedral (poor kids).  The were in pairs holding hands and it was too cute!

Then we walked through the Alta Hofhaltun.  It was very picturesque!

We also went to the Rose Garden which is a part of the New Residence of the Bishop.  While all the roses were dead (it's winter), it was still cute!

Then we headed to our favorite... the Christmas Markets!  But before we got there, we walked through the daily market. It was cool to see the different fruits, vegetables, and flowers!

These two girls wanted to buy these orange Gerber daisies so bad and it was so cute to hear them beg for them!

The speciality in Bamberg is Schneeball!  It was like a hard elephant ear rolled into a ball

As we were leaving the Christmas markets, St. Nikolas came out and the kids came and talked to him.

After our second trip out, we came back and hung out with friends!  Right before dinner, our cruise director told us that the chance of our ship leaving Bamberg was 0% because the water levels were just too high!  We would be staying on our ship the next two nights and taking coaches to our destinations during the day.  Tomorrow is Rothenburg and I am so excited because this is where Kate and Dave went two years ago and Kate cannot stop talking about how cute and gorgeous it was! 

Well it appears it will be Bamberg or Bust for the rest of the trip!
