We had a great time in Boston! This post covers our last day in Boston which included a fabulous food tour through the North End and a trip to Fenway Park where we watched the Boston Red Sox beat the Florida Marlins.
On our food tour of the North End we learned about the history behind this Italian district, as well as visited different food stores as we tasted a variety of ingredients.
Maria's Pastry Shop has delicious Italian pastries... we almost made a trip back on a rainy day in Maine when we realized we finished off our stash!
We tasted Italian pine nuts and lemon Italian ice inside this shop.
These are some of the ingredients they sell- they are known for their coffee.
We did not go in this restaurant but it is known for its pizza. A movie starring Kate Hudson was filled for a bit here- it has not yet come out.
This is a great grocery store with fresh fruits and veggies. The owner goes every morning to a market to pick out fresh produce. We did not get to go in because it was too small but the selection looked great.
Jim (our guide) brought out different veggies for us to learn about. Here he is holding two eggplants and he is describing the difference between a male and a female eggplant. The male eggplant is less bitter and it has a round hole on the bottom... always the best to buy! We got to taste figs and fennel.
This is a wine shop that has a variety of wines and after dinner drinks. We got to taste a lemon liquor.
After resting at the hotel, we went to Fenway Park to see our Sox play ball!
