Sit Down, Sit Down, Sit Down...

Thankfully, our trip up was pretty boring. We missed heavy traffic in the normally busy areas: Richmond and D.C. We hit some heavy spots with construction along the way but nothing to complain about. Here are the happy travels! (Sorry no picture of me... just my book on my lap.)



We just completed our first full day in the city! We arrived in New Jersey last night around 4pm. First we stopped to see the Tear Drop that is directly across the Hudson from where the Twin Towers used to stand. The tear drop is a present from Russian in memory of all of those who died on September 11. At the bottom of the monument is the names of all who died.


After that we checked into our hotel which is right on the harbor between the Hudson River and Manhattan. Right outside our hotel window, we had a spectacular view of Manhattan- where we saw the area where the World Trade Center used to be, the Chrystler building, the Empire State building, a bit of Times Square, Top of the Rock, and much more. It was spectacular even at night. We grabbed a bite to eat at a local deli... yum! We got to walk the harbor during the day and at night! Beautiful!


This morning we headed over to Manhattan! I was dropped off at Devachan (the curly hair experts) to get my hair cut and styled. I love it there- I feel like it is a haven for curly haired people because everyone there has curly hair. I got my hair cut quite short, almost chin length, and Robert did a fabulous job!

While I was there, Mom and Dad picked up Paul from Grand Central station and dropped the car and our bags off at our hotel, which is in the THICK of Times Square. We have never been this close to all the action.



After they picked me back up, we grabbed lunch at Bread, which was delicious! We then headed to Union Square Park where we went to a Greenmarket, which is like a farmer's market filled with different vegetables, flowers, cheese, bread, and so much more. We got Zucchini and Pumpkin bread, two tomatoes, and maple candy (so yummy!).


We then headed to TKTS where we picked up our tickets for the Broadway play: Guys and Dolls. We checked into our hotel and unpacked. Dad, Paul, and I shopped around a bit in Times Square and then we came back and got ready for dinner. We headed to dinner at Juniors and then went to see Guys and Dolls. "Guys and Dolls" stars Lauren Graham (who played Lorelai in Gilmore Girls). This was her first time in a Broadway play and she did awesome! It was so cool to see her in this role. On our way back from the show, we stopped at Toys R Us- this is by far the coolest Toys R Us! It even had a Ferris wheel inside! We are now back at the hotel and I am headed to bed.


Tomorrow is a full day including church, Statue of Liberty (hopefully going up her which we have never gotten to do), Brooklyn Bridge, and World Trade Center site.
