This morning was yet another early morning (and chilly) as we left Plivtice National Park and headed for Split. Once we arrived, we headed to our rooms to set out stuff down. Our hall has all the lady pairs who are traveling together. We took a peak into each of our rooms to compare and see who had the best room. Too funny!
The best part of this hotel is the shower door completely closes. So maybe this time I can take a shower without drenching the floor but we will see.
Once we were settled, our group headed to the waterside for lunch. My first slice of pizza since we got here and it did not disappoint! (Croatia borders Italy so their Italian food is good!)
Then we headed off to take a tour of Diocletian's palace. It was right in the middle of the Old Town. It was like the town built up and inside the ruins! Crazy! There were markets, restaurants, shops, and apartments all inside the ruins.
On our tour of the palace we got to see...
the basement,
Temple of Jupiter,
the circular temple (where an A Capella group sang for us... Mom, you would have loved it!),
and the golden gate entrance made out of limestone.
We also saw other rooms but it was too hot to really listen or comprehend. (Not even my air-conditioned undies could save me here) After our tour, Aunt Jeanne and I shopped and then got our daily gelato!!
Then we went back to the hotel for a much needed nap, while elevating our feet of course! After our nap, we headed our to dinner with Betty and Jean. I got seafood risotto which I didn't really like but Betty got yummy meatballs!
Now we are doing our nightly email checking and blogging! Tomorrow is our last stop before heading home... Dubrovnik!
